The painting was inspired by observing the entrance to the Richmond Sunflower Festival, a celebration of flowers annually in Richmond, B.C. The painting is a plethora of colors, regal shades of green, purple, and bright blue; which draw viewers into the fields of sun-bathed flowers framed by protective onlooking trees and blue sky.

The impressive cloud formation and inclination of grass add movement to the scene and boost our sense of joy about being outside in the natural environment.

I used two layers of Gesso prior to painting and highly professional Holbein oil paint. My tools were brushes and finger strokes on Opus Canadian canvas.

Original Painting Size: 36*24 inch
