I believe that each of us has a hidden gift that deserves recognition. For self-validation, we must follow our inclinations without fear but positive expectations. We may not see the end of our path, but faith means taking the first step even when the whole staircase is in the dark.

That first step leads us to a better place where our vision will become clearer. The painting was inspired by observing the entrance to the Richmond Sunflower Festival, a stunning celebration of flowers annually in Richmond, B.C. I chose to employ bright colors and caused the sky to concentrate in a variety of blue hues, while the trees, leaves, and lawn inclined toward the pathway. The painting is active, with the momentum of elements surrounding us creating positive energy, and encouraging joy within the landscape.

I used two layers of Gesso prior to painting and highly professional Holbein oil paint. My tools were paint brushes and finger strokes on Opus Canadian canvas.
Original Painting size: 30"x 24" inch.
