The painting is a cabbage field at Richmond Sunflower Festival, a celebration of flowers annually in Richmond, B.C. Naturally purple and turquoise cabbage leaves complement each other in an expression of love for nature, symbolizing the life that exudes from the field.

The colors and depth of crops in the field resemble parishioners standing in congregational worship under the vast cathedral sky, bending toward each other in communion and fellowship. We sense a peaceful revelry of souls united in the celebration of nature.

I used two layers of Gesso prior to painting and highly professional Holbein oil paint. My tools were brushes and finger strokes on Opus Canadian canvas.
Original Painting Size: 36*24 inch
